Every year on the 2nd weekend in April, the "Flower Capitol of the World" celebrates the arrival of spring at the Encinitas Street Fair, during which thousands of browsers, shoppers and others come out for two days of fun, original art, clothing, jewelry and gift ideas of every turn. Other draws include Concerts by the Sea on Moonlight Beach throughout July and August and the Taste of Main Street, where on the 3rd Thursday in August, downtown comes alive for an evening of culinary delight.
The City of Encinitas was incorporated in 1921, beginning as a five acre plot of Gladioli, Freesia and Ranculi flowers.
